Making your home festive doesn’t have to break the bank.
Snip a few branches of greenery, grab a few pinecones, or bare branches. You can arrange them in jars, add them to wrapped gifts, use them to create a table centerpiece, the options are limitless.
Cluster candles on coffee tables, the fireplace mantle, the kitchen island, and even the bathroom. Candles carry deep symbolism at Christmas as they are a long-standing tradition. They also create a warm atmosphere and come in scents like gingerbread cookies, cinnamon and nutmeg. In addition, LED candles provide a safe alternative, especially if you have children.
Tie bows of ribbon on lamps, doorknobs are cabinet handles. Wrap a ribbon around a vase, candle or basket. Bows can also be placed outside on the front door, mailbox or porch lights.
Wrap a few empty boxes with craft or wrapping paper and put them under the tree, on shelves, on your entryway table, or stacked beside the fireplace.
Transform clear vases or glasses jars, bowls or even a slice of wood into a holiday piece with just a little greenery or a few ornaments.
Try adding fairy lights to bowls or vases, across shelves or bookcases, or windows or tables with greenery. Everyone loves the look lights bring at Christmas and fairy lights can be very budget friendly solution.
Find free winter or Christmas themed art online and print it off or create some yourself. Pop it in a frame you already own or buy frames at a dollar store. Lean smaller prints on shelves, create a mini gallery wall, or pair it with a candle and sprig of greenery. Creating Christmas themed art with family and friends is also a good way to bring those you love together during the holidays.
Don’t forget non-profits, schools and other organizations often host free or low-cost Christmas decorating events. They often include making personalized ornaments, wreaths or even outdoor Christmas planters.
