Neurographic art is a simple therapeutic drawing method that helps with stress relief, relaxation, emotional expression, and focus.

All you need is a pen and paper. Start by setting your intention. You can write what you’d like to release or manifest on the back of the paper using your non-dominate hand. Draw freeform lines from the edge of the page, letting your hand move naturally without any planning.

Where your lines intersect, fill in the corners to round them. This smooths tension and symbolizes connection, creating new neuropathways between your conscience and subconscious minds. It is a mindful, meditative process that keeps you present and aware.

Add colour, marks or shapes. Whatever feels right. Each stroke becomes a release transforming your thoughts into visual calm.

Look at your finished piece and notice any patterns, insights, or emotions that arise. Sometimes, the artwork reveals subconscious feelings or solutions.

Neurographic art was developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev in 2014. Neurographic drawing engages both hemispheres of the brain. The left brain enjoys the structure and pattern recognition, while the right brain enjoys the creativity and freedom. This balance can create a meditative flow state - a sense of calm and focus.
