Easter is right around the corner!
Millions of Canadians plan to celebrate the holiday with a survey by Field Agent Canada showing 51 per cent of Canadians planning to spend about the same as last year, and an additional 24 per cent expected to spend even more. In 2025, 85 per cent of Canadians purchased Easter-related items such as chocolate, candy or gifts.
Most Canadians make their purchases at a big box store, followed by grocery stores and dollar stores. About 93 per cent of shoppers are influenced about what to buy from what they see while shopping.
Millions of Canadians celebrate Easter every year by visiting with family and friends, participating in activities such as egg hunts, and attending religious services. Many children are also visited by the Easter Bunny, who typically arrives overnight and hides candy to be found on Sunday morning.
Most importantly, Easter is a major Christian festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, occurring on the third day after his crucifixion. It also marks the end of a 40-day fasting and praying period called Lent.
Good Friday is a statutory holiday nationwide, which will give millions of working Canadians a much needed break and a chance to visit loved ones, especially if it involves travel.
