With warmer temperatures now taking hold across Western Canada, it is time to wash and put away your winter jacket.

Dressing for spring is all about being adaptable to the changes in weather. While spring is known for being rather damp and wet, temperatures can still swing from around 10 C during the day to -10 C at night, depending on where you live.

Consider wearing a lightweight jacket made from breathable materials such as linen and cotton, which will allow heat to escape and sweat to evaporate. Linen is exceptionally breathable, making it ideal for hot, humid weather.

Long pants are also asuggestable piece of clothing to wear this time of year. While it may be appropriate to wear skirts or dresses during the day, but remember nights are a different story and you may want to cover your legs in the evening to stay warm.

You’ll probably also want to wear closed-in shoes as the melting snow or rainy weather can easily seep into shoes as you walk. Sneakers are a great choice, and for children, consider rubber boots. Children like to explore and checking out a puddle is a no brainer for them.

You may also want to consider outdoorwear made of synthetic fabrics designed to block wind and repel light rain. The primary materials are nylon and polyester, which are frequently treated with water repellent coatings.

With more and more sunlight during the day, consider wearing hats and sunglasses. Both of those items will shield your eyes from the sun, which could become an issue, especially when driving or hiking.
